Summiting a Mountain Peak-July 17th, 2023

Summiting a mountain is no ease task, but on July 17th, that is exactly what Lottie and I did. We started our trek up the mountain at 5am before the sun even started to rise and climb over 3,000ft. to the summit. The views were spectacular and the journey, although steep, was well worth the time. Lottie did amazing as usual. She spent most of the early hike up jogging up and down the train to us as if to tell us we weren't moving fast enough. Once the sun came through she spent time finding and pointing ground squirrels and at one point she even found us a flock of grouse that made for a perfect fall hiking pin. We'll be making a trip back up this September/October to hopefully bring home some harvest for the table. Hiking with a dog can sometimes be unnerving, especially when you're summiting a mountain, but Lottie did extremely well with keeping us in our line of sight and when the trail tightened up she stayed close and became more cautious as to not step over the edge. I can't wait to take her on the next summit as she has made a wonderful hiking companion for me.
