We entered our very first conformation show over the weekend. We ended up competing in 5 shows over a span of 3 days. She was the only Weimaraner so she automatically took Best in Class, Best of Sex, and Best of Breed all weekend. Her second show, Saturday morning, she took 4th in Group. I am so proud of this young little pup. We started taking a conformation course at about 11/12 weeks old to help us really start her off in the right direction. Not to mention dog mom has never shown a dog before so it was just as much training for Lottie as it was mom. We love having the opportunity to share the weekend with some amazing dog friends who truly know what it means to support one another no matter what the outcomes are. The dogs had fun, the ladies had fun, and I think the spouses even had fun....Well maybe just a little fun, but I know we all loved having them there to support us on the sidelines. Lottie really seemed to enjoy the show. She actually had a bit more confidence and excitement then she had when practicing in our training class. It was fun and exciting to even see a few of our classmates at the show and even our confirmation instructor ended up making it out there as well. Lottie sure grew up from the little puppy she was when we first started practicing until this show where she had just barely, by one week, turned 6 months. The end result was 75 points and a major win towards her Championship title with the United Kennel Club. We are excited to enter her into the spring events with the same club in hopes that she can compete against another Weimar or take a placement in the Gun Dog group. All of her judges complimented her on how beautiful she already looks as just a 6 month old puppy. They all expressed how impressed they were surrounding her behavior, her looks, and encouraged us to come back as she aged so they could see her mature. It was such a fun weekend full of firsts and full of learning.We are so grateful to have the friends and support we do and can't wait for more.
